This blog is about my crazy experiences homeschooling three children with special needs. Our house can be pretty crazy! We have a house full of Autism-related problems and yet we have decided that homeschooling is the best for our kids. I will be sharing some of the projects we are doing as well as some of the struggles we face as a family.

Catching up
Wow, I haven't posted in forever! That is what happens when you have a new baby I guess. The schoolyear has ended and we are going on vacation next week. It is to a small resort/waterpark and we are hoping the kids do okay with water this year. I can't wait to post pictures. Little Guy is doing awesome with speech therapy. He is using short sentences now and we can understand a lot more of what he is saying. He is still leaving off sounds which makes it hard but he is still doing awesome! Our new little one is developing right on schedule and has great eye contact. He is even responding to his name and babbling. So nice to not be worried about him right now. The older two kiddos are doing awesome too. My eldest ran in a one mile fun run an
d really enjoyed himself, and my Princess just turned six and is obsessed with my little ponies. :-)

Garden Center--Sensory Play
Well the pool is still in the house but the beans were getting old so we put those away. I went to walmart and bought artificial flowers, easter grass, and decorative rock and put it all in the pool along with some plastic cups to be "flower pots". Real flower pots would be more fun but I didn't think of that until we got home so I improvised. They have been playing with this for a couple of days now. They plant thier flowers and arrange the rocks. They are having so much fun!
Since taking the pictures, I have also added some toy chickens and plastic eggs for more of an Easter/spring theme. They have been filling the eggs with rocks and making nests for them. :)

Dinosaurs
We went to the Putnam Museum this week to see the Dinosaur exibit. Geesh that thing was expensive but worth it! All the kids loved it except my princess. She just wanted to get through to the good stuff like the Discovery Room. Here are some pics!

Sensory play--planting trees
We had broughten the wading pool inside after a storm blew it halfway accross town, so I decided to take advantage of the situation. We have had a bin full of dried beans to use for sensory therapy for years now, and I decided to try somthing larger scale for a change. I dumped the beans into the pool, and the kids had a blast "planting" the plastic trees we bought arround Christmas. We just may keep the pool indoors when not in use for similar activities.

Back to Blogging--New Baby
Well I have been MIA in the blog world as of late and for good reason. On January 20th, we welcomed our newest little family member and needless to say, learning to juggle four kiddos has been a bit of a challenge. But hey, what's one more right? We are finally getting back into the swing of things, but it is still pretty crazy around here! Here's some of my little fuzzy one.
He is going on two months old now, and I can hardly believe it!
